DEBATE DISCUSSION

Please post debate thoughts here...

  1. It confirmed my choice of Obama. This is the intelligent, well spoken, attentive type of individual that I want to represent us around the world.

George Bush was an embarrassment and John McCain would be no better. He was like an old man living in the past (and I should know) who has all the answers and if it worked then it will work now.

I hope the young people watching picked up on that and will take this opportunity to put Obama and his beautiful family in the White House.

Since I have a new HDTV I watched it on CNN instead of my favorite pundit avoiding C-Span. Obama looked real good, but McCain looked embalmed. He has the possibility of being the first cadaver ever elected to office. John Ashcroft, if you recall, lost his U.S. Senate seat to a dead guy.

I saw Joe Biden talk last night. If Sarah was around, I did not see her. The only thing she could beat him in is mud wrestling. Don't be shocked if something happens to alter that debate.

  2. Not true.....lol :) Rwiley, looks seem to be very important to you. You have mentioned it several times in the couple of your posts that I've read. I suppose it would be my determining factor if I was a judge at a beauty pageant but it really has no place in politics.

I base my choice on who has the most experience and who has the knowledge to get us through the next 4-8 years. Obama himself has waffled about raising taxes because he knew McCain was right in the first place. It's the worst thing he can do right now. If he agreed with "John" any more last night then he might just as well have jumped ship and gone to work for McCain. Yes, McCain is an old man but he looked better than Obama last night. :)

    Obama's beatiful family, lol......

Does that include the folks at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? You know......the ones that Obama got almost $130,000.00 from?? They DID call him family :)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usvG-s_Ssb0

Or would it include his "family" and spiritual mentor Rev. Wright? Remember? The man who damned America and preached from the book of Cone.........a man who called for the annihilation of the white race?? The godfather to his children? A man he had a relationship with for 20 years and listened to and followed and then dropped when his relationship with him was exposing him for the hater he really is?

Or will be be seeing Bill Ayers at the White house dinners with Obama's beautiful family? I hope he leaves his bombs at home :)

Or maybe Mr. Rezko will grace the beautiful family with his presence. You remember, the criminal? The man who backed Obama when he was running for the Illinois Senate and when Obama was elected he ~coincidentally~ ended up representing a district that included 11 of Rezko's 30 low-income housing projects. I'm sure we'll see Rezko there.......when he's not in prison of course :)

Oh yes......I can't wait to see who the beautiful family might have over for dinner, lol..

  3. Tracy, you have not given me anything new here. I could counter every one of your talking points about "family members" of John McCain dating back to his Keating Five involvement until today with his lobbyist staff, one of which said he quit "you know who" months ago but recieved a $15,000. check just last month. His recent outright lies could only be ignored by a fool.

As far as looks go, it appears that it certainly was important to John McCain when he picked Sarah Palin. Because, it seems that is all she has. She is an insult to the women of our country and documentation of McCain's poor judgement.

Obama has both, a plus for us, and:

I am not ashamed to say that I would be proud to have a beautiful family like the OBamas representing my country. Their intelligence is well documented and their children will bring much needed warmth to the White House.

Now, if you could explain why a vice presidential candidate was absent for comment and support on perhaps the most important night of her running mate's career, you could teach me something.

Not one Republican I have talked to today had anything to say but, duh? And George Bush's internets were void of any Republican explanation.

I would not be surprised if a "family situation" calls her back to Alaska and she resigns. It is hunting season, ya know!

Then, perhaps Rudy will give up cross dressing or Joe Lieberman will give up the Democratic party and Rush to John's side to "save our country".

  4. Tracy,

You said, "Rwiley, looks seem to be very important to you. You have mentioned it several times in the couple of your posts that I've read. I suppose it would be my determining factor if I was a judge at a beauty pageant but [*and here's the kicker*] it really has no place in politics."

That's a fine and dandy statement you just made there.

Try relaying your thoughts to the large majority of your Republican cronies who won't vote for Obama simply because of the color of his skin.

  5. I just have to say one thing.

    I am scared.

I am scared for our country. I am scared for my children. I am scared for my future grandchildren.

If McCain is elected President of this great nation, all I see is WWIII. Russia! Does he have to pick on Russia? And so vehemently and contemptuously? You just know they have been biding their time since 1991. McCain seems poised to give them the chance to retaliate. I know the tactic (or strategy?) was to come off strong...but he overdid it in a big way. He came off as an instigator.

This is why we need a diplomat back in the White House. We have had 8 years of bully. It is now time for diplomacy. There is no time to waste. There is great urgency.

    New slogan: Diplomacy Now!

  6. Rwiley, I think you know what I'm going to say. First, Davis isn't running for president. Second, I'll wait until the accusers have a name. I would never come here and argue something by an anonymous source.

    On to Palin.....

My goodness....things sure do get ugly with the dems when they are at a loss for words :) I'm not surprised.....email hacking, photo shopping pictures, scathing rumors of incest, and lies about who the mother of her child is.....All this represents what dems are. And now you throw out the old, "She done got picked cause she's a purdy one, ain't she?" That insults you more than it does me so I'll let it be. I could grace you with her many accomplishments but it will still end up with you saying, "Yeah, but she's purrrrdy. Ain't no woman ah knows who could be purrrdy AND smart...."

On to things that I don't know what you're talking about, lol

Rudy's a cross dresser??? Well good for him. Maybe HE'S real purdy too when he's dressed up. And NOW we know the answer to HIS political success, lol.........

  7. Hi Smalltown :)
Republicans are going to vote Republican no matter what color Obama's skin is. It's the racist dems who will determine if Obama makes it or not. So don't try to hang that on me. In a poll of the dems, they said blacks were "lazy, violent and responsible for their own troubles".......If racism has any part in it, it's the dems who will determine it for Obama, NOT the Republicans.

And in response to your second post.....

I honestly laughed out loud when I saw this, "Does he have to pick on Russia?" :) Are the big bad Republicans picking on that poor little Russia again?? (I'm kidding with you :))

McCain said h wanted Georgia and the Ukraine to be a member of NATO. All the members of NATO come to the assistance of any other member of NATO that is attacked. If Russia should be so stupid as to continue with it's blatant disregard for Georgia's territorial boundaries, they would face the combined military might of Europe and the United States. Seeing as how Russia took it upon themselves to invade before Georgia became a member of NATO (which probably would have taken place sometime next year) it would seem they were threatened by that very thought. NATO is not the UN. NATO is a force to be reckoned with and it's actions can't be vetoed by a single member.

This is the world as it stands and if we aren't vigilent in controlling a nation as powerful as Russia, it won't be long before our own shores are being threatened. Not to mention the catastrophic effect Russia would have on Europe's oil supplies if it continues unabated.

NATO carries a big stick :)

  8. Here is an accuser with a name:

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
    Wed, 09/24/2008 - 9:20am

“John McCain's campaign manager and Freddie Mac had what amounts to a secret half a million dollar lay-a-way plan,” said David Donnelly, director of Campaign Money Watch. “For almost three years and as late as last month, Freddie Mac made secret, monthly payments of $15,000 to Rick Davis’s firm for a no-show job, apparently in exchange for providing special access to a future McCain White House."

As reported today by The New York Times, Newsweek, and numerous other media organizations, the scandal-plagued mortgage giant Freddie Mac paid Davis’ firm, Davis Manafort, $15,000 a month from 2005 until as recently as last month in exchange for the access Davis provided to the Republican presidential nominee.

    And:
"David Donnelly, director of the watchdog group Campaign Money Watch, said: "John McCain's campaign manager and Freddie Mac essentially had a secret half a million dollar lay-a-way plan. For almost three years, they made secret, monthly payments of $15,000 to Rick Davis for apparently no other work than for him to provide special access to a future McCain White House in exchange. If McCain knew about this, his presidential campaign should be over. If he didn't know about it, he ought to fire Rick Davis immediately.""

  9. "Are the big bad Republicans picking on that poor little Russia again??"

I realize you said you are kidding--but seriously, ARE YOU KIDDING?

Russia is not in the least poor or little. They are armed just as well as we are. Possibly better for all we know... Their birdies will reach our shores, just as ours can reach theirs. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be disintegrated in a matter of seconds by one of their nukes. While not playing the pansy, we can still and must have respect for their nuclear military power. There is a fine line between being a pussy and being diplomatic. Diplomacy is what we need, not some one with an itchy finger poised over the proverbial red button.

    ReplyDelete
  10. My God Smalltown, you are certainly the optimist, no? lol. I was saying that Russia is not an innocent victim that should be pitied because someone says, "Your actions are unacceptable and it will not be tolerated."

It is your kind of thinking that emboldens Russia and they eat that fear like a cold bowl of borsht. Your kind of thinking is dangerous. "Let them do what they want so we don't have to get involved".......... I'd almost think you went to the school of Chamberlain.

If I were you, I'd be more afraid of Obama and his obvious confusion about foreign policy. Send him the book, "How to avoid war by not having lunch with terrorist nations, for dummies"

    :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Smalltown, I think it's hilarious that both you and Rwiley have the balls to present me with anything about Davis when your guy Obama has already SPENT the money he got from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Obama (the man running for president, remember???) had influence in the senate pertaining to the handling if those obviously corrupt GSEs. HE (Obama) took money from them and then used their CEOs to advise his campaign.

I have yet to see any accusations of the same about McCain. I know it may be hard for you to unlock your jaws for a second but if you think about it, Davis getting $15,000. a month from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac does not benefit McCain in any way.

Are you saying that he will do what Davis wants because ~DAVIS~ is getting money???? That makes no sense whatsoever.....

You'd have a story if it was McCain getting the money. He wasn't. (Obama was, lol) And he certainly wouldn't risk his political career to make Davis rich, lol.

    The whole thing is ludicrous.

And I'm still waiting for you to address the almost $130,000 that Obama got from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when they were calling him their family and he WAS in a position of power to keep them protected.

Until your own back yard is cleared of the old cars and refrigerators, don't come cleaning up mine :)

  12. Tracy, you are rambling.

That is why your cut and paste responses are identical to those talking points from friendly Republicans on other blogs.

With the exception of the "personal" introduction and (puke) the junior high school version of laughing (lol), it smacks of John McCain's "internets squad".

    ReplyDelete
  13. Rwiley,
I haven't "cut and pasted" anything from someone else. For your information, today was the first day I have read any other blog but this one. I went to Dangerous Democrats and pointed out the figures for the AIG bailout were wrong (though they have a moderated blog...kudos to Smalltown for not) and it was actually $425. per person. That's it. I've never posted or even read another blog. And I certainly would not cut and paste someone else's words.

There is no reason to get mean.....

If we can't debate without it getting ugly, I have no interest in being here. I'll move on.

I included the "lol" and the smilies because I wanted you to know that I wasn't some rabid flamer who was here to start trouble. I actually enjoyed our little debate. If I have somehow offended you, I'm sorry.

Have a good one Rwiley. (I won't include a smiley because it obviously enrages you......)

  14. Let me put this in terms you will understand:

There once was a blog that was great
but a meanie filled it with hate
    his name was Rwiley
    he's scared of the smiley
and he sucks at a good debate.....

  15. The limerick made me laugh.

The thought of another lying, lobby-driven, neocon thug partnered with a blank slate, corrupt, dysfunctional evangelical creationist being in charge of my country makes me mean.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hit em hard, Tracy ! Typical limp wristed libs. lol

    ReplyDelete
  17. That smiley that was used by Tracy was in reality a condescending smirk like the kind used by George Bush when he is lying to his base and asking for more money for his friends. First time on a blog? Ya, right.
I can tell a virgin when I see one and that troll ain't no virgin....been around the block, getting off on instant response because this is an un-moderated blog and easy prey. Only one thing certain about this troll ....Republican.

  18. Forgot, though, smalltownamerica has introduced us to the lefty limericks sight. It caused a 15 minute delay in our coffee break and the boss was pissed, until we showed her the one about the only cadaver to ever run for office. Thanks for the laughs.
